Tracking your time with Buildforce

When working with Buildforce, it's important to track your time accurately to ensure you get paid fairly and on time. With the Buildforce app, you can easily track your clock-in and clock-out times and submit your time entries promptly. The app also records your clock-in and clock-out locations, giving you and the company you’re working for confidence that your time entries are accurate.

This article will walk through:

  • Allowing location access

  • Clocking-in and clocking-out

  • Submitting your time

  • Viewing your time entries and statuses

  • Disputing approved and adjusted time entries

  • Tracking time when you have no internet connection

Allowing location access

When you use Buildforce, you will be prompted to allow access to your location. This is important because it enables the company to see where you clocked in and out. This helps to resolve any disputes that may arise when accounting for your working hours and ensures that you get paid fairly. It's important to note that we do not track your location throughout your entire shift, but only when you clock in or out.

Clocking-in and clocking-out

When you are assigned a project through Buildforce, navigate to the "My Jobs" tab in the app. There you will find the name of the company, a clock, and an option to "Clock In".

Tap "Clock in" to start tracking time:

At the end of your workday, return to the app and select "My jobs", then tap on "Clock out". Please note that you do not need to clock out if you are taking a break. You can add your break time for the day once you have clocked out.

Submitting your time

After finishing your work for the day, you will be required to provide your clock-in and clock-out times. It is essential to review this information for accuracy as it will be sent to the company for approval. If approved, these hours will be the ones you will be paid for.

At this point, you can make changes to your clock-in time and clock-out time, and include any break taken.

After pressing the clock-in button, you will see your recorded clock-in time and location. Along with that, the app will provide you with a "Suggested edit" which is typically just a rounded version of your recorded time, based on our rounding policy. Please refer to our rounding policy for more details. In some cases where you might have forgotten to clock-in or out, we may suggest a time that falls within the project schedule. However, these are only suggestions and you have complete control over the time you submit.

To edit your clock-in time, tap the pencil icon next to “Suggested edit”, make necessary changes, and tap “Next”. Similarly to edit your clock-out time, tap the pencil icon next to "Suggested edit" and make your changes. Then, tap "Next".

After reviewing and editing your time, select breaks taken. Once you have reviewed and confirmed that all details are accurate and complete, you can submit your time entry for approval by clicking on the "Submit" button.

Please be aware that we only track your location at the time you, and we do not monitor your location during your entire shift. If you did not grant location access when you clocked-in or out, we would not have your location information for your entry. In case of any disputes with your company, it may be more difficult to resolve them in your favor without this information.

Viewing your time entries and statuses

To view all the time entries you have made so far, simply head to the "My jobs" tab. From there, tap on "Time entries" located at the top-right corner of the screen. This will take you to a list of all the time entries you have made to date.

This screen will show you the status of your time entries. The following are the possible status types:

  • Submitted: When a time entry is marked as "Submitted", it means that you have submitted it to the company for review. At this stage, you can still make edits to the entry by tapping on it and selecting the pencil icon.

  • In review: When time entries become available for the company to review at 9 PM on Sundays, they get the “In review” status. Editing time entries after this point is not possible.

  • Approved (Adjusted): When a time entry is marked as "Approved (Adjusted)", it means that the company has reviewed your entry, but they have made adjustments to the hours you submitted before approving it. To see any adjustments made, you can tap on the specific time entry you want to review.

  • Approved: When a time entry is marked as "Approved", it means that the company has reviewed and approved your entry without any adjustments.

Disputing approved and adjusted time entries

If you disagree with any approved time entries, you can dispute them through the Buildforce app.

To dispute adjusted and approved time entries, go to the "My jobs" tab and tap on "Time entries” at the top right corner. This will display all of your time entries.Select a time entry labeled "Approved (Adjusted)". Tap the "Dispute" button located at the top right corner of the entry.

Once you tap on the button, a chat screen will open up where you can submit your time entry dispute. Make sure to mention the date of the disputed time entry along with the reason for the dispute. The Buildforce Support Team will contact you within 24 hours to assist you with your dispute.

Tracking time when you have no internet connection

If you are unable to connect to the internet, you can still clock in and out using the app. The app will save your clock-in and clock-out times along with your location. Once you regain internet connectivity, you can submit your time.
