The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) requires employers to verify new employees' identity and employment authorization. All US employers must complete Form I-9 for each employee they hire within three days of hire.
Employees must present valid documents to prove their identity and employment authorization, and employers must assess the validity of these documents and record the information on Form I-9. Employers must retain the form for a designated period and make it available for inspection by authorized government officials. Violations of this policy, or related guidance documents, can result in disciplinary action, including termination.
This process is known as the I-9 Process, which is important to ensure that only eligible employees are working in the US. At Buildforce, we use a third-party provider called Workbright. Workbright is a tool that enables I-9 verification remotely or in person. Their software is compliant and easy to use.
Summary: Buildforce is an equal-opportunity employer and does not discriminate against citizenship status or national origin. We require you to provide documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
How to Submit Your I-9?
We have launched a new and more convenient way for you to submit your I-9 paperwork to us in the Buildforce app. To begin, go to the What's next section under the Find Jobs tab in your Buildforce app. Select 'Start'.
You will be prompted to submit your employment eligibility paperwork with us. After you submit, a family or friend will need to validate your paperwork in the exact location.
Once both sections are complete, we will take care of the rest!
